Nazi rebuilds ( 1924-1929) 1.2 Flashcards
IGCSE MOCK REV
when was hitler released from prison
1924
were the nazis growing in size
yes and rapidly
between 24-29, did they gain many seats
no. they struggled to gain seats
To get more seats, hitler sent out a lot of propaganda - what was mein kampf
an autobiography laying out his political beliefs and ambitions.
what does mein Kampf mean
my struggle
what did Mein kampf include (3)
- The belief that the Jews were an inferior race to the German
Aryans, and also represented a threat to the German state. - The need to destroy the
parliamentary system
of government and replace it with that of a single, strong dictator. - Germany’s requirement for Lebensraum, or living space, to house its growing population. This required Germany to expand to the East into Poland and Russia.
how was propaganda developed during those years
Joseph Goebbels experimented with new techniques like :
posters
public rallies
speeches
this was all to show how much of a strong leader Hitler was
what was the bamberg conference
Hitler called a special Nazi Party conference on 14 February 1926 at Bamberg in southern Germany in response to tension between the northern and southern sections of the party.
when was the bamberg conference
1926
why was the bamberg conference needed
During his time in jail disagreements had grown between the two sections:
- northern section wanted to emphasise socialist elements like the 25pp to attract workers support
- southern section more interested in nationalist and racist policies in order to attract support from the middle classes and farmers
results of the bamberg conference (3)
- Hitler insisted that policies which could be painted as
communist, such as taking land from rich noblemen, would not be pursued. - However, the conference did reaffirm the 25-Point Programme, with its socialist ideas, as the party’s policy platform.
- In addition, Hitler established the Fuhrerprinzip, or ‘Leader Principle’, the idea that the party’s leader was in absolute control and all members must follow his directions. No
dissent
from this was expected or tolerated.
why were the nazis unpopular during 24-28 (3)
- germany’s economy had raised and was starting to do well, so there was no point in a change as people were happy and didn’t want an extremist to change things
- as hitler was in jail and banned from speaking until 27, it prevented the party from campaigning effectively
- The Nazi Party was under constant pressure from the Weimar authorities following the Munich Putsch. Several times it was banned nationally or in certain parts of Germany.
after 1923, what did hitler do to try and assure regional support and what would that allow
set up regional divisions of the party that were responsible in setting up regional support for that region
would allow recruitments targeted to specific groups
who did the nazi’s decide to target the most and why
farmers and people who lived in rural areas.
because they made up 35% of germany’s population
how did nazi’s target the farmers
by praising them as racially pure, noble, morally pure and hard working ( they were feeling neglected by gov so were happy about this)
