how does progesterone affect contraceptives?
thickens cervical mucus, alters tubal transport, alters uterine lining, inhibits ovulation via LH/FSH suppresion (somewhat)
what’s the failure rate of IUD?
0.1-2%
note that risk of infection in IUD is small
