Urogenital Triangle Flashcards
Perineum
Diamond shaped structure consisting of urogenital and anal triangles
3.6 Boundaries of Perineum
Anterior: pubic symphysis
Lateral: ischiopubic rami, ischial tuberosities, sacrotuberous ligaments
Posterior: Coccyx and sacrum
Dividing Line between Anal and Urogenital Triangles
Line between ischial tuberosities
Inferior Rectal Nerves
Run through Camper’s fascia in anal triangle to rectum
Pudendal Canal (Alcock’s)
Canal in anal triangle, just medial to obturator internus muscle containing internal pudendal vessels, and pudendal and perineal n.s
Pudendal Nerve Block
Nerve runs around ischial spine, so for childbirth they can palpate it and anesthetize all around it
Perineal Raphe
Line bw vagina and anus
Difference between Penis and Clitoris (besides size)
Males: urethra runs through, F: runs inferior to
2 Layers of Superficial Fascia on Penis (superficial-deep)
Camper’s fascia - fatty
Colle’s fascia - fibrous, derived from Scarpa’s
2 Borders and 3 Muscular Contents of Superficial Perineal Pouch
Superficial: Colle's fascia Deep: Perineal membrane Ischiocavernosus m. Bulbospongiosus m. Superficial transverse perineal m.
Ischiocavernosus muscle
Runs from ischium to cavernosal portion of penis/clitoris (covers erectile tissue)
Bulbospongiosus muscle
Covers spongiosus portion of erectile tissue
Blood Supply of Superficial Perineal Space (4 and common source)
Come off internal pudendal a. Posterior scrotal/labial a.s Perineal a.s Dorsal a.s of penis/clitoris Deep a. of penis/clitoris
Nerves of Superficial Perineal Space (4 and common source)
Come off pudendal n. Posterior scrotal/labial n.s Perineal n.s Dorsal n.s of penis/clitoris Deep n. of penis/clitoris
Greater Vestibular (Bartholin’s) Gland in Females
Under bulb, secretes fluid into vaginal area
