What was the problem with the Theme Parks in Dubai?
Lackluster attractions, and they struggled to bring visitors to parks. Grandios’ plans crashed and burnt so hard.
When was the Dubai Resorts & Parks scheduled to open & how big is it?
18 Dec 2016 announced phase 1 home to 3 theme parks links by shopping and Dining area: world class motion gate, Lego land and Bollywood park & plush-tasting water park, river.and Dubai, the Grand Entrance Plaza. It sprawls over 25 million sqf.
Who was appointed to design and construct? When was it supposed to open?
Meraas Holding (state-owned by property mgmt.) also included a marine life park, animal encounters & night shows, and showcasing night safari.2.9 billion Dollar project was set to open up in 18 Dec 2016. Florida-style entertainment. The location was chosen due to Expo 2020.
Meraas CEO said they would bring Florida-style entertainment like Disney World.

When did the construction of Dubai Resorts and Park begin?
Vertical construction began in August of 2014 leaving them with 2y to construct the 3 themed park and one water park including the resort hotel.
What did they do when they missed the predicted opening on 16 Oct 2016 with all facilities?``
They moved to phased openings. Lachita Hotel in November. They weren’t ready for the opening. Motion gate opened only 3 of the 5 parks. Studio Central, smurfs village, and Colombia pictures. Dreams work, and Lions Gate wasn’t ready. Out of 27 attractions, only 11 were ready.
Why wasn’t the opening of Dubai Parks & Resorts weren’t successful?
The resort was constructed and opened too quickly. Only about two years from the park going vertical to the opening date meaning they didn’t have time to do a debut effectively.
Why weren’t their too many visitors?
you only get once change for 1st impression. One other problem was the astronomical ticket prices on opening. @ lego & motion gate. This was not a premier product, but charged premium price. The annual price was ridiculous, a little behind Disney.
What as the trigger for this failure?
Theme parks were built by people who went to Orlando and so without understanding what exactly is required to build a project like this on this scale. The basics were there, but none of the nuance is. Lack luster animatronics and attractions.
What happened when guests immediately noticed this?
They didn’t come to the parks. Initially they wanted to welcome 6 million guests but guest what, they got only 1 million for all three parks choking up a 150 million dollar loss. On site hotel had only 27% occupancy.
What did the CEO of the project say Mohamed Almulla?
We won’t go with the abnormally high attendance predictions. It is not the base we are going forward anymore. You don’t want to become a resort struggling to get its guests. We need to build at a decent phase proving that the project is a success. Dubai Resort Park could only get 3 million people in 2018 and 22% over 2017. only around 2700 guests per day per park.
What do you not want SunCenter to become?
You don’t want to become a resort that is going to hemorrhage money and lose the value of its stock (over 85% of) Dubai Park might be the epidemy of the Dubai theme park plans, try to go too big too fast without really knowing what is required for a successful theme park venture. But this is at least open. (Dubai park & hotel resorts projects) pied y =attacking or affecting many persons simultaneously in a community or area)
