The Intrinsic Muscles Of The Shoulder Flashcards
Name the intrinsic muscles of the shoulder?
The delotid, teres major, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, teres minor
What are the four rotator cuff muscles?
The supraspinatus, the inraspinatus, the subscapularis and the teres minor
What are the origin and insertion of deltoid?
Origin is the scapula and clavicle, attaches to the deltoid tuberosisty on lateral surface of humerus.
What is the innervation of the deltoid?
The axillary nerve
What are the actions of the deltoid?
Anterior fibres flex the arm at the shoulder, the posterior fibres extend the arm at the shoulder and the middle fibres are the major abductors of the arm
What are the origins and insertions of the teres minor?
Origin, posterior surface of the inferior angle of the scapula, and attaches to the intertubular groove of the humerus
What is the innervation of the teres major?
the scuprascapular nerve
What is the action of the teres mjaor?
Adducts at the shoulder and medially rotates the arm
What is the origin of the supraspinatus?
Origin= the supraspinous fossa of scapula and attaches to the greater tubercule of the humerus
What is the innervation of the supraspinatus and the infraspinatus?
The suprascapular nerve
What are the actions of the supraspinatus?
Abudcts the arm 0-15 degrees, and the assists the deltoid for 15-90 degrees
What are the origins and insertions of the infraspinatus?
Originates from the infraspinous fossa of scapula and attaches to the greater tubercle of the humerus
What does the infraspinatus do?
It laterally rotates the arm
What does the subscapuaris orignate and insert?
Originates in the subscpular fossa on the coastal surface of the scapula and attaches lesser tubercle
What is the innervation of the subscapularis?
Upper and lower subscapular nerves
