Muscles Of The Thigh Flashcards
What are all the muscles of the anterior thigh innervated by?
The femoral nerve (roots L2-L4)
What muscles form the illopsosas?
Pos major and the iillacus
Where does theillopsosas orignate and insert?
Psoas major comes form the limbar vertebrae, and the illacus orignates from the illc fossa of the pelvis, and they both insert to lesser trochanter of the femur
What is the action of the illipsaos?
Felexes the lower limb at the hip and assissts in the lateral rotation
What is the innervation of the ilospaso?
Psas major is innervated directly by the anterior rami of L1-L3, whereas the illacus gets its innervation from the femoral nerve
Whaat are the components of the quadriceps femoris?
Consists of the vastus lateralsi, vastus intermedius and the vastus medialus as well as the rectus fermoris.
What are the actions of the quaardricepts femoris?
Extend at the knee joint (the rectus fermoris extends at both he hip and the knee)
Where do the quaardiceps insert?
the patella via the quardicpeps tendon
Where does the vastus laterlus originate?
Orignates from the greater trochanter and the lateral lip of the linea aspera
Where does the vastus intermedius originate?
The anterior and lateral surfaces of the femoral shaft.
Where does the vasutus medialus orignate?
Intertrochnateric line and the medial lip of the linea aspera.
Where does the rectus femoris orignate?
Orignates from the ilium superior to the acetabulum
Where does the pectineus orignate and insert?
Orignanets from the pectinaleal line on the anterior surface of the pelvis, and attaches to the pectineal line on the posterior side of femur.
What are the actions of the pectineus?
Accuction and felxion at the hip joint
What is the antamoical signifcance of the pectinue/
Forms part of the floor of the femoral triangle.
