▪ Mechanically derived from either pronated or cavus foot

  • Medial band of plantar fascia is pulled excessively
  • Insidious onset with post static dyskinesia
  • May or may not see spur formation
  • Periosteum contains osteoblasts that are activated by the disruption of the aponeurosis being pulled away
  • Actually bone spurs don’t always form though

▪ Chronic trauma to abductor hallucis at its origin can cause the muscle to begin calcifying too

  • Causes are the same as heel spur syndrome
