ANKLE DORSIFLEXION Flashcards

1
Q

o Results in inability to dorsiflex ankle joint 10⁰ with STJ in neutral position required for normal gait

*Must make sagittal plane motion somewhere

o Made up at STJ through pronation

A

2
Q

o Results in knee being held in flexed position → tilts tibia forward

o Causes a need for greater ankle joint dorsiflexion for propulsion

▪ Normal ankle joint may not provide adequate ROM

o STJ pronation compensation in sagittal plane → providing needed dorsiflexion at STJ

A

Congenitally or developmentally short hamstrings
