What is the principal of single line working with a token

A

The principal of single line working is that only train is allowed to enter one section of track at a time

What is electric token working

A

Token working between two signal boxes.
The signaller releases the token from the machine electronically. The signal boxes communicate via buzzer codes

Helps overcome the limitations of staff working

A

A

Using an additional train cab unit

Train stops at stop board A
Driver calls signaller to request a single line token
If section is clear a token code will be issued and appear on the cab unit
The driver must confirm they have received the token, authority given
Once clear of the section the driver contacts the signaller via cab unit to give up token
