S1: Blood Supply - Distribution Flashcards
blood supply to the (general) lateral portion of the cerebral hemispheres
MCA
what supplies the medial surface of the parietal and frontal lobes?
ACA
What structures does the MCA supply?
precentral g., postcentral g, (except leg and foot areas of M1 and S1) wernickes, brocas, primary auditory cortex, insula, frontal lobe
What does the ACA supply?
medial surface of the parietal and frontal lobes. including the leg and foot regions of M1 and S1
What does the PCA supply blood to?
medial parts of temporal and parietal lobes
occipital lobe
anterior and posterior midbrain
crus cerebri
posterior thalamus
* primary visual cortex, parts of temporal lobe involved in memory
What supplies blood to the anterior midbrain
PCA and Posterior communicating
Lenticulostriate artery branches off from the
MCA
What areas does the lenticulostriate arteries supply?
Basal ganglia, amygdala, internal capsule, anterior thalamus
What do the basilar branches supply?
pons, anterior midbrain (crus cerebri)
What structures are supplied by the anterior spinal a.
- ventral 2/3 of spinal cord
- medial medulla
What structures are supplied by PICA?
- dorsolateral medulla
- dorsolateral pons
- medial cerebellum
- cerebellar cortex
What areas are supplied by AICA?
- inferior surface of cerebellar cortex’
- dorsolateral pons
What areas are supplied by superior cerebellar artery?
- superior surface of cerebellum
- dorsolateral corner of rostral pons
What areas are supplied by the anterior choroidal artery?
(comes off ICA)
- hippocampus
- anterior chrooid plexus
- posterior internal capsule
What does the Anterior choroidal come off of?
ICA
