Pulp, Successional Lamina, and Vestibular Lamina Flashcards
What tissue is the pulp derived from?
What does this tissue form?
- Mesodermal tissue of dental papilla
- VAN, lymph, connective tissue
What is successional lamina?
A lingual growth which develops from the dental lamina to form succedaneous teeth
What are succedaneous teeth?
Teeth that replace primary teeth, ie incisors, cuspids, and bicuspids
Describe the general development of successional lamina
It goes through bud, cap, and bell stages just like the original dental lamina that had formed the deciduous teeth
What is a vestibule?
A channel that serves as an entrance to another cavity
A channel that serves as an entrance to another cavity
Vestibule
Describe the steps to develop vestibular lamina:
- Oral epithelium thickens in facial area of enamel organ
- Thickened layer clefts to form a vestibule, which forms the mucobuccal mucolabial folds
- This forms a future vestibule, the empty space located between the cheeks/lip and the teeth
What other folds are formed when the vestibule is formed?
Mucobuccal and mucolabial
