What are the different types of psoriasis?
- Guttate: small, red, scaley spots on body
- Palmoplantar
- Pustular: yellowish pustules on an erythematous base
- Nail psoriasis
- Genital (always ask)
What is the PEST score?
Psoriasis epidemiology screening tool
- Locates where there is psoriasis and screen for swollen joints and other stuff like nail signs
What are the subtypes of psoriatic arthropathy?
- Distal: only affects ends of finger and toes
- Rheumatoid like
- Mutilans: affects fingers and toes to cause deforming and curling (pencil-in-cup deformity)
- Ankylosing spondylitis (HLAB27)
What are some treatment options for psoriasis?
- Topical corticosteroids
- Vitamin D analogues
- Shampoos, ointments, gels, creams
- Emollients
- Phototherapy
- Systemic methotrexate, ciclosproin
- Biologic therapies
When is methotrexate contraindicated?
- Pregnancy
- Alcohol excess (liver disease)
Why is oral prednisolone contraindicated in psoriasis?
Because there will be a flare upon stopping the prednisolone
Ciclosporin is offered instead
How do beta-blockers cause a flare of psoriasis?
Not fully known
But they causes intracellular changes in calcium, affecting both keratinocyte proliferation and granulocyte function via decreased cAMP levels
What is Hidradenitis supprativa?
A painful, long-term skin condition that causes skin abscesses and scarring on the skin
Not associated with Koebner’s phenomenon

Technique of removing skin cancers
Which facial rash can be triggered by alcohol?

A cutaneous malignancy that arises in the setting of previously injured skin, longstanding scars, and chronic wound
