Distinguish R post lobe vs L post lobe
Both “quarter turn”/partial sidelying with opposite side (unaffected side) down. knees bent and level. Difference is BED ELEVATED for Left lobe.
Percussion on medial border of scap
Upper/apical lobes
Sitting leaning back 30-40 degrees b/c highest pointlet gravity work
Top of lungs (distinguish from superior segments which are more middle than at top)
Or long sit
Percussion above clavicle
R middle lobe (actually lower)
Quarter turn partial side-lying on left side with legs 12 inches up. Percusssion between R axilla and nipple
Legs raised 12 inches due to Middle lobe actually being vary low on R side
Posterior (basal segments)
Prone with feet up 18 inches b/c posterior are basal segments
Percussion over lower ribs post
Anterior segments (lower/basal)
Supine with feet ip 18 inches
Percussion over lower ribs ant
Superior segments
Prone with pillows under chest. PEercussion below inf angles b/c really in mid region not actually all the way superior/ (distinguish from upper/apical)
Lateral segments
Sidelying on unnafected side with foot of bed at 18 inches. Percussion at lower ribs
R lobe vs L lobe
R has 3 parts (upper, middle, lower)
L has 2 parts (upper, lower)
L upper lobe (lingula)
In superior lobe but still very low in lungs b/c sup lobe is majority of lobe so can he high or low. In this case it is low
So partial 1/4 turn with r side down and feet 12 inches up
Posterior apical segments
Sitting and leaning forward. Pillow under knees
Lingula
Supine with head down and one quarter turn
Anterior segments (upper lobes)
Supine, percussion on clavicles
