Positioning for crutches, canes
20-30 elbow flexion
2 inches to side of feet
6 inches in front of feet

Walker facts
More wheels = less stability with walkers
Rollator has seat
Posterior walker (often in pediatrics) to keep upright posture vs anterior causing forward flexion
Stair Ascension
- Always use handrail if there is one
- Therapist below/posterir to pt and on affected side, one hand on belt.
Stair descending
Therapist on front side, wide BOS one hand on and belt and one hand guarding

Up with the good, down with the bad
What to do if there is a fall on the stairs
Bring your COM to the patient specifically. DO NOT bring them to you. Get close to them by hugging and lowering or maintaining stability
