Under the following circumstances officers shall contact their Patrol supervisor who shall
respond to the scene and request notification of a narcotics detective if the below criteria are
met:
- Arrests involving trafficking amounts of narcotics when the suspect is willing to cooperate
with a narcotics detective; - The seizure of United States (U.S.) currency in excess of $5,000; and/or
- Arrests involving individuals who are willing and capable of providing additional narcotics
information.
Officers seizing trafficking amounts of narcotics (e.g., one ounce cocaine, four grams heroin,
25 pounds marijuana, 10 grams methylenedioxymethamphetamine [MDMA] pills) shall:
a. Field test the controlled substance;
b. Contact their supervisor and request notification of a narcotics detective if the suspect is
willing to cooperate with a narcotics detective;
c. Ensure all items of evidence are individually bagged to prevent contamination of
possible forensic evidence and are then secured in a larger bag by the responding
supervisor. The supervisor shall then _____.

the evidence being transported to the Property & Evidence Facility;
Patrol shall contact the Supervisor of______ via the investigative PECO when
called to a commercial shipping facility regarding packages containing any form of suspected
illegal cannabis or legal hemp.
Mid-Level Narcotics Unit
A PDDU/on-call narcotics detective should be called out when one of the following occur:
- Anytime a medical, pharmaceutical, dental, or veterinary professional/employee is
investigated or arrested for diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals; - Anytime an arrest is made for prescription fraud;
- Anytime an arrest is made where large quantities of controlled pharmaceuticals, which are
not prescribed to the suspect, are seized; and/or - Any thefts of controlled substances from a pharmacy, hospital, doctor’s office, courier
service, parcel delivery service, or medical marijuana treatment center. This does not
include missed deliveries or thefts from individuals.

An officer seizing U.S. currency in the amount of _____ or more shall notify the
