agency for all boating accidents which occur on the inland waters of the State. JSO shall
provide support to the FWC with their investigation.

The Hazardous Devices Unit (HDU) shall respond to any of the following
- Any suspicious package not readily determined to be safe/inert;
- Improvised Explosive Devices (IED);
- Incendiary Devices;
- Homemade Explosive Labs (HME);
- Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED);
- Person Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (PBIED);
- Maritime Improvised Explosive Devices (MIED);
- Found military or improvised military ordnance;
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) devices or incidents:
a. Chemical dispersal devices, Chemical suicides;
b. “White Powder” calls;
c. Improvised Nuclear Devices (IND), Radiological Dispersal Devices (RDD), Radiological
Exposure Device (RED); and
d. Found explosives. - Post-blast crime scenes involving explosives or CBRNE events;
- All incidents of sealed safes prior to being brought to the Property & Evidence Facility, shall
be x-rayed and determine if the contents are non-hazardous; - Incidents requiring the collection of commercial grade fireworks for destruction or storage
for evidence; and - Active Shooter incidents that could possibly have explosive devices.
If the hazardous devices threat involves a critical infrastructure or military installation, the on-call ______
Unit detective shall be notified and shall have investigative responsibilities for the case.
Intelligence
If the threat involves a government or law enforcement facility, the Intelligence Unit shall
coordinate investigative resources with the______.
Integrity Unit
Hazardous devices: The School Board Police Department shall be instructed to route their report to the JSO
_______.
Critical Infrastructures Unit and the Intelligence Unit.
The minimum evacuation distance for hazrdous devices/suspicious packages shall be ______ with or without a protective

The UAS Unit shall respond to any of the following:
- Search, rescue, and recovery efforts associated with missing and/or endangered persons;
- Natural disasters to conduct damage assessments;
- Authorized criminal investigations;
- Crime scenes or traffic crashes to collect evidence;
- Traffic management;
- Provide an aerial perspective of 50 people or more with a focus on providing personal safety
and protecting the constitutional rights afforded to citizens;
UAS: All requests to provide an aerial perspective of 50 people or more shall be reviewed and
approved by_____________/
the Commanding Officer of UAS Unit or higher authority.
No personally owned UAS aircraft or UAS equipment shall be used during operations
conducted by JSO without permission of the Assistant Chief of Special Operations.

The following are exceptions listed
in F.S.S. 934.50 for allowing the use of a UAS for the purpose of gathering evidence or other
investigative information:
a. To counter a high-risk of a terrorist attack by a specific individual or organization if the
United States Secretary of Homeland Security determines that credible intelligence
indicates there is such a risk;
b. If the law enforcement agency first obtains a search warrant signed by a judge
authorizing the use of a UAS;
c. If the law enforcement agency possesses reasonable suspicion that, under particular
circumstances, swift action is needed to prevent imminent danger to life or serious
damage to property, to forestall the imminent escape of a suspect or the destruction of
evidence, or to achieve purposes including, but not limited to, facilitating the search for
a missing person;
To provide a law enforcement agency with an aerial perspective of a crowd of 50 people
or more, provided:
e. To assist a law enforcement agency with traffic management; however, law
enforcement acting under this paragraph may not issue a traffic infraction citation
based on images or video captured by a drone;
f. To facilitate a law enforcement agency’s collection of evidence at a crime scene or
traffic crash scene; or
g. The assessment of damage due to a flood, a wildfire, or any other natural disaster that is
the subject of a state of emergency declared by the state or by a political subdivision,
before the expiration of the emergency declaration.
UAS: Only the Public Records Unit may satisfy requests for public copies. Recordings obtained on
agency systems shall not be released to the public without prior approval from the _______.
