A Patrol supervisor or higher authority shall notify the Investigative Police
Emergency Communications Officer (PECO) of the request for the Supervisor of CGIC to be
notified of the following:
- When a burglary, attempted burglary, or theft of a firearm occurs to a business with a
Federal Firearms License where firearms are sold (i.e., gun dealer, pawn shop, etc.); - When a suspect is arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (PFCF) and
meets one of the following criteria:
a. The suspect has a prior PFCF conviction;
b. The suspect has two prior felony convictions (drug possession convictions may only be
counted as one, regardless of the number of convictions) and the last conviction or
release from incarceration is within five years. This makes the subject a Habitual
Offender; or
c. The suspect has been convicted of an enumerated violent felony and the conviction or
release from incarceration is within five years. This makes the suspect a Habitual Violent
Felony Offender.
The enumerated violent felonies are as follows:
(1) Aggravated abuse of an elderly person or disabled adult;
(2) Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon;
(3) Aggravated battery;
(4) Aggravated child abuse;
(5) Aggravated manslaughter of a child;
(6) Aggravated manslaughter of an elderly person or disabled adult;
(7) Aggravated stalking;
(8) Armed burglary;
(9) Arson;
(10) Kidnapping;
(11) Manslaughter;
(12) Murder;
(13) Robbery;
(14) Sexual battery; or
(15) Unlawful throwing, placing, or discharging of a destructive device or bomb.
During working hours if________a GIU detective shall be requested
through the Police Emergency Communications Officer (PECO).

During non-working hours, GIU (gang) detectives shall be requested through the PECO:
- When a known or suspected criminal gang member (juvenile or adult) is arrested for a felony;
or - For any gang related incident involving violence or when a supervisor believes a GIU detective
can substantially aid in an investigation.
