(Chief Warden or Officer in Charge when CW is absent) are the point of contact in a planned / controlled evacuated
And or delegates to assist

A

Only if there is an immediate risk,

if the train is not evacuated, it is not to be moved until authorized as part of the rescue effort due to an investigation being required into the cause of the incident

If passengers are to be detrained close to the entrance of a tunnel, what must the driver advise?

A

• to meet at the assembly points, located at the relevant loop ramp entry

• to only use the walkways provided on the platform side of the tunnel.

The driver must notify TC and or organise station staff or authorized officers to comfort the passenger Until suitable arrangements are made

What is a controlled evacuation?

A

TC will advise the direction in which to be evacuated

Competent persons will be guiding and supervising the evacuation of passengers

TC will arrange to stop any following trains prior to detraining

Driver must return to train to protect once safe to do so after the evacuation

Driver must stay with the train, and is not to be moved until instructions given by TC

What is an emergency evacuation?

A

Where it is more dangerous to remain on the train than it is to evacuate and there are no staff available to Assist

Driver will assist after conferring with TC and securing the train

After an evacuation in the MURL is the driver able to move the train when the signal aspect has changed to proceed?

A

No,

they can only move the train once they have permission from TC

Are there speed proving Automatic Train Stops (trips) in the MURL?

A

Yes

When a home signal is displaying a medium speed warning, the speed proving trip prior to the signal will lower once the train speed falls below 25 km/h

(N.b. They are not on the platforms - they are mostly at 2-3 signals prior to arrival to each platform)

*when med speed warning signals displayed, reduce speed to 25km/h

  • PA ‘do not leave train’
  • continue attempt contact AC if not able prior
  • keep pax informed

In no COMMS remain in cab & wait to be contacted by other means
