single or two sperm combine with an egg that has lost its DNA, the sperm re-duplicates to make 46 chromosomes (only paternal DNA present)
what is a partial mole?
egg is fertilised by 2 sperm or by 1 sperm that duplicates yielding 69XXY, both maternal and paternal DNA is present
what are complete hydatidiform moles at high risk of developing into?
choriocarcinoma (malignant tumour of trophoblasts)

hyperemesis hyperthyroidism early onset pre-eclampsia varied bleeding occasional passage of grape-like tissue abdominal pain SOB (embolisation to the lungs) seizure (metastasis to the brain)
diagnosis
USS snowstorm appearance
described as frogspawn when expelled
+/- foetus, theca lutein cysts
management
surgery= uterine evacuation and tissue sent to histology
can do medical management in partial
