- encapsulated lesion. Filled with keratin
- usually asymptomatic/nontender, unless infected

- alopecia over affected area
- tender, boggy lesion
- may have lymphadenopathy

hyperthyroid s/s
A
temperature pref: cool weight: loss emotional state: nervous, energetic hair: fine skin: warm, fine fingernails: thin eyes: proprosis, lid retraction, diplopia neck: goiter, tenderness, possible nodule cardiac: tachycardia, palpitations GI: inc. frequency of BM menstrual: scant flow neuromuscular: proximal muscle weakness

A
temperature preg: warm weight: gain emotional state: lethargic, disinterested hair: coarse fingernails: thick eyes: periorbital puffiness neck: possible goiter cardiac: no changes GI: constipation Menstrual: menorrhagia neuromuscular: good muscle strength

trigeminal neuralgia
A
severe, “electric shock” pain lasting <60 seconds, then a burning pain lasting seconds to minutes
Episodes: 1-100 times a day
may grimace or contort face
may have trigger: shaving, eating, cold air.
