draw line from umbilicus away, muscle follows
- equal movement of umbilicus

- testicle and scrotum should rise on same side

- stroke lateral side of foot from heel to ball then across ball
- plantar flexion of all toes should be seen
- Babinski sign: dorsiflexion of the great toe

biceps reflex
elbow flexion
brachioradial reflex
forearm pronation and elbow flexion
triceps reflex
elbow extension
patellar reflex
lower leg extension
achilles reflex
plantar foot flexion
clonus
if hyperactive reflexes noted
- briskly dorsiflex foot and maintain foot in flexion
- no rhythmic oscillating movements should be observed
- sustained clonus: upper motor neuron disease
scoring DTR
0: No response
1: sluggish or diminished
2: active or expected
3: more brisk than expected
4: brisk, hyperactive, with intermittent or transient clonus
