Levothyroxine drug interactions?
Aluminum, Calcium, cholestyramine, iron magnesium, MVMs(containing ADEK, folate, iron)
orlistat (Xenocal, Alli), sevelamar and sucralfate need to be separated by 4 hours
What drugs decrease the effectiveness of Levothyroxine?
BB, amiodarone, propylthiouracil, systemic steroids can all decrease the effectiveness of Levo due to decreased conversion of T3-T4
Levo DIs increased effects?
- Increases anticoagulations (INR, Pt with warfarin)
- Decrease digoxin and theophylline levels
How many times can Prevnar be given?
Pts should only get it one time in their lives
When do you give one dose of prevnar?
Immunocompromised patients 6-64
- SCD
- Aspenia
- HIV
- Chronic Renal Failure
- malignancy
- transplant
- Immunosuppreives drugs: roids
Anyone >=65
WHo should get pneumovax?
1 dose Immunocompetent pts age 2-64
- SMoker, DM, heart, lunch, liver disease, alcohol abuse
Immunocompromised 2 doses if immunocompromised
1 dose when >=65 regardless of receiving
