Metric System and Graphing Flashcards
What is Standard Deviation?
It is a measure that is used to quantify the amount of variation in a set of data
What are the different units of measurement?
Length - meter (m)
Mass - kilogram (kg)
Volume - liter (L)
Time - second (s)
Temperature - kelvin (K)
How many base units are in a kilo?
1,000
What is the difference between median and range?
Median is the number in the middle of the set of data while range is the difference between the largest and smallest number in the set of data
What are the steps to finding standard deviation?
- Find Mean
- Find the Variance
- Find Standard Deviation
How do you find the Variance of a set of data?
You find this by finding the how far each number is from the mean, squaring them all, and finding the mean of those set of numbers
T/F?
You find the mean by adding all of the numbers in the data set together and then dividing it by the amount of numbers
True
What is the range for the following set of data?
24 cm, 15 cm, 17 cm, 20 cm, 18 cm
9 cm
What is the difference between the independent and dependent variable?
A dependent variable is relying on the independent variable to be able to change while the independent variable doesn’t need anything
What line is the independent variable located on?
Horizontal line (x-axis)
Volume is the measurement of what?
The space between a given object occupies
What line is the dependent variable located on?
Vertical line (y-axis)
How many teaspoons are in a tablespoon?
Three
What is it called when you make predictions within given data?
Interpolation
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of matter in a given object
