Cells Flashcards
What are the differences between prokaryote and eukaryote cells?
Prokaryote: no nucleus, few structures
Eukaryote: nucleus, more complex structures
What are the differences between plant, animal, and bacteria cells?
Plant: Vacuole, Chloroplast
Animal: No cell wall, Vesicle, Lysosome
Bacteria: Prokaryotic, Free-floating DNA
What are the similarities between plant, animal, and bacteria cells?
They all have cell membranes, ribosomes, cytoplasm, and DNA
How do different cells get rid of waste?
Plant: Large items go to vacuole
Animal: Large items go to lysosomes
Bacteria: Large items don’t go anywhere special
What serves as a container for the different cells?
All have cell membrane that let things in and out
Plant: uses a cell wall
Animal: cell membrane
Bacteria: one or two cell membranes
How do different cells contain a set of instructions?
All have DNA and genes which are able to copy DNA
Bacteria: No nucleus
How do different cells read the instructions?
All have genes as instructions where a cell makes a copy and attaches to the ribosome
Bacteria: does not go to ER (others go to golgi)
How do different cells get and use energy?
ATP , takes fuel molecules to break down energy
Plant: use chloroplast
Bacteria: do not occur in mitochondria
What are some benefits of a prokaryotic cell?
There are less things to go wrong, things can get done sooner since they have less things to go through
What are some benefits of a eukayotic cell?
Are able to create more complex structures
