Metabolic and Pathways Exercise W1 Flashcards
What are the 5 metabolic pathways which provide energy in Mammalian cells?
Glycolysis
TCA Cycle
Pentose Phosphate Pathway
Beta-Oxidation
Oxidative Phosphorylation
What provides Biosynthetic reactions energy?
ATP
1 other Triphosphate
Reduced Coenzyme
How does Glycolysis provide energy?
Breaks down glucose to 3 carbon compounds lactate or pyruvate
How does TCA cycle provide energy?
Converts acetyl-CoA into CO2
How does Pentose Phosphate Pathway provide energy?
Converts G6P into pentose phosphate and reduces NADP+ coenzyme
How does Beta-Oxidation provide energy?
Converts fatty acids into acetyl-CoA and reduces coenzymes FAD+ and NAD+
How does Oxidative Phosphorylation provide energy?
Oxygen is used to oxidise coenzymes which are reduced in the 4 other pathways
What is the regulation of Gene Expression?
- Signal
- DNA
- RNA
- Protein
