Major types of antigen-presenting cells Flashcards

Q
What are the major types of antigen-presenting cells?
A
Macrophages—present to naïve Thelper cells, and activate them (so naïve Th cells become antigen-experienced Th cells); express both MHC-1 and MHC-2, (so can also activate CD8+-Tcytotoxic T-cells)
Dendritic cells—present to naïve Thelper cells, and activate them; express both MHC-1 and MHC-2, so can also activate CD8+-Tcytotoxic T-cells
B lymphocytes (B cells)—present only to antigen-experienced Thelper cells
