What do you see on blood smear?
A
HELLP syndrome= manifestation of severe preeclamspia (hypertension after 20 weeks with either proteinuria or end-organ dysfunction; usually seen in last 3 months of pregnancy or shortly after childbirth; affects about 15% of women with pre-eclampsia, or eclampsia)🡪 can progress to DIC, placental abruption, or kidney failure
- Hemolysis of RBC’s (lactate dehydrogenase will be elevated)
- Elevated Liver enzymes (AST, ALT)
- Low platelets
