Hypokalemia and hyperkalemia Flashcards
1
Q
What is effect of hypokalemia versus hyperkalemia? Sx? How is EKG affected?
A
Hypokalemia presents with muscle cramps, spasm, and weakness but also with cardiac anomalies (arrhythmias) and flattened T-waves on ECG.
Muscle spasms also seen in extreme hypocalemia
Hyperkalemia presents with wide QRS (prolonged ventricle depolarization) and peaked T waves on ECG, weakness, and arrhythmias.
