Lab #9 Flashcards
descending palatine artery identification
descends from maxillary artery within pterygopalatine fossa; divides into greater and lesser palatine arteries
descending palatine artery supplies
gives off branches to palate
descending palatine artery bony landmark
palatine canal
greater palatine artery identification
anterior branch from descending palatine artery; travels anteriorly on hard palate
greater palatine artery supplies
hard palate posterior to canines
lesser palatine artery identification
posterior branch from descending palatine artery; travels posteriorly to soft palate
lesser palatine artery supplies
soft palate and palatine tonsil
infra-orbital artery identification
superiorly from maxillary artery to enter inferior orbital fissure; travels with infra-orbital nerve
infra-orbital artery supplies
skin of maxillary cheek, lower eyelid, upper lip, and lateral nose
infra-orbital artery bony landmark
inferior orbital fissure to infra-orbital groove, canal, and foramen
sphenopalatine artery identification
terminal branch of maxillary artery; gives rise to posterior lateral nasal and posterior septal branches; will likely be cut (look for lumen)
sphenopalatine artery supplies
gives off branches to lateral nasal wall and nasal septum
sphenopalatine artery bony landmark
sphenopalatine foramen to nasal cavity
greater palatine artery bony landmark
greater palatine foramen
lesser palatine artery bony landmark
lesser palatine foramen
