Joints Flashcards
What is the most easily dislocated joint in the body?
Glenohumeral Joint (Shoulder) - the more mobile a joint is, the easier it is to dislocate
What are the ligaments in the glenohumeral joint?
Coracohumeral Ligament
Transverse Humeral Ligament
Glenohumeral Ligament (AKA Capsular Ligaments)
What are the attachments of the coracohumeral ligament?
Coracoid process to the greater tubercle of the humerus
What are the attachments of the transverse humeral ligament?
Spans the greater and lesser tubercles of the humerus and holds the tendon of the long head of the biceps in place
What are bursae?
They are small fluid-filled sac lined by synovial membrane with an inner capillary layer of viscous fluid that allow greater ease of movement.
What are the attachments of the glenohumeral ligament?
Supraglenoid tubercle to the lesser tubercle of the humerus
What is the glenoid labrum?
A fibrocartilaginous ligament surrounding the margin of the glenoid cavity and it deepens the socket
What are the ligaments in the acromioclavicular joint?
Acromioclavicular Ligament
Coracoclavicular Ligament
What are the attachments of the acromioclavicular ligament?
Acromion to the clavicle
What are the attachments of the coracoclavicular ligaments?
Coracoid process to the clavicle and they help to stabilize the clavicle
Besides ligaments, what else serves to stabilize the shoulder joint?
Tendons of the rotator cuff muscles
What are the ligaments in the humero-ulnar joint?
Ulnar Collateral Ligament of the Elbow
What are the ligaments of the humeroradial joint?
Radial Collateral Ligament of the Elbow
Attachments of the ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow.
Medial epicondyle to the coronoid process of the ulna and the olecranon of the elbow
Attachments of the radial collateral ligament of the elbow.
Lateral epicondyle to the radial notch of the ulna and annular ligament (Relatively weak)
