Ischemic heart disease drugs Flashcards
Primary drug for ischemic drug disease
Nitrates
Treatment of stable angina aimed at
Prevention of further attacks by decreasing O2 demand and increasing O2 supply
Drugs for stable angina
Nitrates, beta blockers, ca channel blockers, antiplatelets
Treatment for unstable angina
antiplatelets, anticoags, coronary intervention
After acute MI medications
Beta blockers, anti platelets, statins, ACEI/ARB/spirinolactone if CHF
Nitrates
Cause large vein dilation pimarily–decreases preload, decreases heart work and decreases O2 consumption
Long term use of nitrates may cause
Tachyphylaxis–acute tolerance
SE of nitrates
Flushing, headaches, hypotension
Beta blockers are contraindicated in
Vasospastic angina
Beta blockers are the only
anti-anginal drugs proven to prolong life post-MI
Ca channel blockers beneficial in
coronary vasospasm–prinzmental angina
