- jejunum
- ileum= longest
The small intestine is suspended in the abdominal cavity by what?
mesentery
What are the functions of the small intestine?
- food digestion -> duodenum
- nutrient absortion -> mostly jejunum
Where is the Pilcae circulares found in the small intestine?
in distal duodenum + jejunum + prox. ileum
Where is Peyer’s patches found in the small intestine?
only in distal ileum
What are the parts of the dupdenum?
- sup. = 1st segment -> supplied by celiac trunk
- descending = 2nd segment -> supplied by celiac trunk
- horizontal = 3rd segment-> supplied by SMA
- ascending = 4th segment -> supplied by SMA
What connects to the jejunum at the duodenojejunal junction?
ascending duodenum
What are the 2 parts of the descending duodenum?
- major papilla= main pancreatic + common bile ducts
- minor papilla= accessory pancreatic duct
What suspends the ascending duodenum?
ligament of Treitz

What are the segments of the colon?
- ascending = secondary retroperitoneal
- transverse = has mesentery
- descending = secondary retroperitoneal
- sigmoid = has mesentery
What forms the haustra in the large intestine?
tenia coil
What is the arterial suply of the mid/hindgut?
- abdominal aorta -> SMA -> midgut
- abdominal aorta -> IMA -> hindgut
What are the lymphatics for the right side of body in the abdominal cavity?
right lymphatic trunk -> right subclavian vein
