- hamate
What are the 2 types of joints in the metacarpals (palm)?
carpo-metacarpal & metacarpo-phalangeal
What is the motor innervation of the hand?
median & ulnar
What does the median nerve in the hand innervate? (L.O.A.F.)
- lumbricals
- opponend pollicis
- abductor pollicis brevis
- felxor pollicis brevis
What does the ulnar nerve in the hand innervate?
rest of intrinsic hand muscles
What is the arterial supply of the hand?
- ulnar art. -> superficial palmar arch
- radial art. -> deep palmar arch
What muscles make up the intrinsic muscles in the thumb? (O.A.F.)
- aka thenar eminence
- opponens pollicis
- abductor pollicis brevis
- flexor pollicis brevis
What muscles make up the intrinsic muscles in the pinky? (O.A.F.)
- aka hypo-thenar eminence
- opponens digiti minimi
- abductor digiti minimi
- flexor digiti minimi
Where do the lumbricals of the fingers attach?
- to radial side of phalanges 2-5
- tendon of flexor digitorum profundus
What is the innervation of the fingers?
- median -> lumbricals 1 + 2
- ulnar -> lumbricals 3 + 4
What is the action of the fingers?
- extend IP joint
- radial deviation of MP joint
Where does the radial nerve innervate?
- ant hand-> nothing
- post. hand -> lat. 2/3 palm + proximal 1/3 of digits 1-3
Where does the median nerve innervate?
- ant. hand -> lat. 2/3 palm + digits 1-3 + lat. side of digit 4
- post. hand -> distal 2/3 of digits 1-3 + distal lat. 1/3 of digit 4
Where does the ulnar nerve innervate?
- ant. hand -> medial 1/3 palm + digit 5 + medial 1/2 of digit 4
- post. hand -> medial 1/3 hand + digit 5 + medial 1/2 of digit 4
What are the characteristics of PAD intrinsic muscles?
- palmar interossi
- ADDuction
- 3 muscles
- 3rd digit does not adduct
