Axilla and Arm Flashcards
What are the boundaries of the axilla?
- anterior: pec. major & minor
- medial: serr. ant.
- lateral wall: proximal shaft of humerus
- posterior: subscapularis, teres major, lat dorsi
- base: skin (armpit)
Where is the brachial plexus located?
between the ant. and middle scalene muscles
What is the arm innervation from the brachial plexus?
- post. cord> radial nerve> post. arm
- lat. cord> musculocutaneous & median nerve> ant. arm
- medial cord> median nerve & ulnar nerve> ant. arm
What is the bony support of the arm?
humerus
What are muscles that attach to the humerus?
- biceps brachii
- coricobrachialis
- brachialis
- tricpes brachii
- anconeus
What is the arterial supply of the posterior and anterior arm?
- post: deep brachial artery
- ant: brachial artery
Around the elbow, what arteries anastamose with each other?
ulnar and radial collateral anastamose with ulnar and radial recurrent
What is the motor innervation of the arm?
- post: radial nerve
- ant: musculocutaneous nerve
What is the sensory innervation of the arm?
- radial
- axillary
- medial brachial cutaneous
- medial antibrachial cutaneous
What muscles are a part of the arm?
- ant: biceps brachii, coracobrachialis, brachialis
- post: triceps brachii, anconeus
What is the proximal attachment of the biceps brachii?
- long head to the supraglenoid tubercle
- short head ot the coricoid process
What is the distal attachment of the biceps brachii?
- bicipital tendon to the radial tuberosity
- bicipital aponeurosis
What is the proximal attachment of coricobrachialis?
coricoid process
What is the distal attachment of coricobrachialis?
medial shaft of humerus
What is the proximal attachment of the brachialis?
- mid shaft
- ant. surface of humerus
