Inferential Statistics Flashcards
What are the three levels of data/measurement?
Nominal - categories
Ordinal - rank order/rating scale
Interval - public units of measurements
How do you decide which statistical test to use?
The level of measurement for the data collected
Whether it’s a test of difference or correlation
(If test of difference) whether it’s an independent groups design or repeated measures
What does SOC stand for?
Spearman
Ordinal data
Correlational
What does MOI stand for?
Mann Whitney
Ordinal data
Independent groups
What does ChIN stand for?
Chi-squared
Independent groups
Nominal
What does WORD stand for?
Wilcoxon
Ordinal
Repeated measures
Difference
What is a Type 1 error in inferential statistics?
Refers to wrongly rejecting the null hypothesis
Usually when the probability level was too high e.g. 100%
What is a Type 2 error in inferential statistics?
Refers to wrongly accepting the null hypothesis
Usually when the probability levels was too stringent e.g. 1%
