general arrangement nervous system Flashcards
receptors
are special nerve terminals
-exteroreceptors: in skin
-proprioreceptors: in muscle, tendon, joints
-interoreceptors: in inner organs + vessels
*afferent sensory fibers arise in receptors
-are the projections of sensory n. cells
(pseudounipolar or bipolar).
-they’re contained outside CNS
-in sensory ganglia of spinal + cranial nerves
*somatosensory fibers carry info from soma
(skin, muscles, bones, joints)
*viscerosensory fibers: carry info from inner organs
effectors
are striated muscles or inner organs/vessels
-efferent motor fibers terminate on effectors
–>they’re projection of motor nerve cells
(contained w.in cns)
In the cns
sensory+motor nerves grouped to form
sensory og motor centers (nuclei)
-divided into:
a) cortical (higher regions)
b) subcortical regions
c) lower centers
-centers are con. by nerve tracts
-sensory centers interconn. by sensory nerve tracts (pathway)
-motor centers interconn. by motor nerve tracts (pathway)
sensory centers (nuclei)
1) cortical (higher):
postcentral gyrus + other
2) diencephalon (thalamus + metathalamus)
3) lower centers:
-sensory nuclei of cranial nerves
-nucleus gracilis and cunaetus in oblongata
-sensory nuclei in spinal cord (dorsal ganglion)
motor centers (nuclei)
1)cortical: precentral gyrus
2) subcortical:
-basal nuclei
-diencephalaon (thalamus, subthalamus, hypothalamus)
-mesencephalon (red nucleus, substantia nigra)
-vestibular nuclei
-cerebellum
3)lower centers:
-motor nuclei cranial nerves
-motor nuclei spinal cord (ventral horns)
