facial a (ant surf)

A

occurs in carotid and submandibular triangles.
it has relations to submandibular gland.
-curves around inf. border of mandible, just anterior to masseter m and enters face.

Q

Internal carotid artery

A

Opthalmic A supplies face + cranium:
-supraorbital A
-supratrochlear A

opthalmic a traverses optic canal
-br of opthalmic a anastomose w br of facial A

17
Q

Internal jugular vein

A

It begins by initial dilated p (superior bulb of jugular vein) in jugular foramen

-it is a deep structure
-traverses neck in carotid triangle w.in carotid sheath
-closely related to internal carotid a (resp to common carotid a)

-internal jugular vein joins w subclavian vein
—> brachiocephalic v

(intra/extracranial tributaries):
drains blood from:
-interior of skull including brain
-face, spf structures of skull
-parts of neck

18
Q

extracranial tributaries of internal jugular vein

A

drain venous blood from face, spf areas of skull, neck
-tributaries that drain structures and areas that are supplied by br of ext. carotid a.

-retromandibular v
-pharyngeal vv

*common trunk/thyrolinguofacial trunk:
-facial v
-lingual v
-superior thryoid v
-occipital v
-external jugular vein

(veins have many variations in both occurence and course)
