Q

What do slow twitch fibres need ?

A

They need lots of oxygenated blood to contract the muscles and have a high density of mitochondria for aerobic respiration.

Q

What is aerobic respiration ?

A

It is the release of energy from the breakdown of glucose by combining with oxygen. Aerobic respiration is more efficient than anaerobic respiration. It is happens in the mitochondria of cells.

Q

What is anaerobic respiration ?

A

It is the respiration without oxygen. It is short term energy production method that animals use when they cannot exchange enough oxygen. Anaerobic respiration is les efficient and happens in the cytoplasm of cells. It also leaves a poisonous chemical (lactic acid)
