A
- Binds strongly w/ both alpha and beta receptors, producing increased BP, increased HR, bronchodilation

Indications:
A
- Anaphylactic shock
- Certain allergic reactions
- Asthma attacks

Adverse Effects:
A
- Headaches
- Nervousness
- Tremors
- Arrythmias
- HTN
- Chest pain
- Nausea/vomiting

Contraindications:
A
- Arrhythmias other than VF, asystole, PEA
- Cardiovascular disease
- HTN
- Cerebrovascular disease
- Shock secondary to causes other than anaphylactic shock
- Closed angle glaucoma
- Diabetes
- Pregnant women in active labor
- Known sensitivity to epinephrine or sulfites

Dosage (Adult):
A
- EpiPen contains 0.3-0.5 mg epinephrine to be administered IM into anterolateral thigh area

Dosage (Pediatric):
A
- For children weighing less than 66 pounds, EpiPen Jr delivers 0.15 mg IM
