Contraindications:

A
  • Severe anemia/ cardiac failure in presence of normal or increased intravascular volume
  • Solution appears turbid/ after 4 hours since opening the container
  • Known sensitivity

  • 5% Albumin: 500-1000 mL IV, IO
    -25% Albumin: 50-200 mL IV, IO

  • 5% Albumin: 0.5-1 g/kg IV; Initial dose may be repeated 15-30 mins if clinical response is inadequate
  • 25% Albumin: 1 g/kg IV, IO

  • Pts w/ history of CHF, cardiac disease, HTN, pulmonary edema should be given 5% albumin, or 25% albumin should be diluted
