Action:
A
- Prevents formation of a chemical known as thromboxane A2
- Thromboxane A2 causes platelets to clump together, or aggregate, and form plugs that cause obstruction/ constriction of small coronary arteries

Indications:
A
- Fever
-Inflammation - Angina
- AMI
- Pts complaining of pain, pressure, squeezing, crushing in the chest that may be cardiac in origin

Adverse Effects:
A
- Anaphylaxis
- Angioedema
- Bronchospasm
- Bleeding
- Stomach irritation
- Nausea / vomiting

Contraindications:
A
- GI bleeding
- Active ulcer disease
- Hemorrhagic stroke
- Bleeding disorders
- Children w/ chickenpox/flu like symptoms
- Known sensitivity

Dosage Myocardial Infarction (Adult):
A
- 160-324 mg PO
- 300 mg rectal suppository

Dosage Myocardial Infarction (Pediatric)
A
- 3 to 5 mg/kg/day to 5-10 mg/kg/day given as single dose

Dosage Pain/Fever (Adult):
A
- 324 to 650 mg PO every 4-6 hours
