Q

What are the 2 steps of DRA

A
  1. select an alternative behaviour that requires less effort than the problem behaviour and is already in the learners repertoire
  2. Select a reinforcement that is potent (same reinforcer that maintains the problem behaviour) , and make sure it can be delivered immediately

Q

What is Differential Reinforcement of Incompatible Behaviour (DRI)

A

When an undesirable behaviour is distinguished. and a behaviour that is impossible to do at the same time is reinforced
eg. arriving late to class vs being on time to class

Q

What is Differential Reinforcement of Other Behaviour (DRO)

A

When an undesirable behaviour undergoes extinction, and a reinforcer is delivered when the behaviour DOES NOT OCCUR
(no alternative behaviour)

What is “whole-interval DRO”

A

a reinforcement is given after if the behaviour is absent during the whole interval

What is “momentary-interval DRO”

Q

What are the 6 steps for DRO

A
  1. Perform functional asessmet to determine problem behaviour
  2. Choose reinforcement
  3. Choose length of interval
  4. Extinguish problem behaviour (reinforce omission intervals)
  5. if problem behaviour occurs in the interval, restart the interval
  6. Increase interval length

Q

What is a negative effect that can be produced by DRO

A

it can lead to extinction-induced aggression

Q

What is Differential reinforcement of Low Rates of Responding (DRL)

A

When a Lowe rate of a behaviour is reinforced to decrease the high rate of the same behaviour

Instead of extinction, we just reduce the behaviour
eg.sleeping, eating to quickly, asking questions in class

Q

What is Interval DRL

A

session is divided into equal time intervals and reinforcement is given if it occurred no more than once during each interval
