Component 1 ( Planes And Axes Of Movements): Soc 21 Flashcards
What is the term ‘plane’?
“Direction of movement” - imaginary flat surface dividing the human body into sections
What are the three planes of motions?
- sagittal plane
- frontal plane
- transverse plane
What is the frontal plane?
-Runs vertically
-Divides the body into front and back
-Abduction and Adduction (side to side) movements
-Takes place with sagittal axis
What is the transverse plane?
-Runs vertically
-Divides the body top to bottom
-Creates rotation movement
-Takes place about the vertical axis
What is axis?
Joints that rotates around axes allows movement to take place something that turns
What is frontal axis?
-Turns horizontal from side to side
- Perpendicular to the sagittal plane
What is the sagittal axes?
-Runs horizontal from front to back
-Perpendicular to the frontal plane
What is the vertical axes?
-Runs verticall opposite
-Perpendicular to the transverse plane
Example sport for sagittal plane and frontal axes?
Front or back somersault
Example sport for frontal plane and sagittal axes?
Cartwheel
Example sport for Transverse plane and vertical axes?
Pirouette
What is the sagittal plane?
-Runs vertically from front to back
-Divides the body into right and left parts
-Flexsion and exstension (forward and backwards) movement
-Movement of the sagittal plane take place about the frontal axis
