What are groups
Two or more than two people with common interests or objectives
What is synergy
When we add 2 components and the result is more than the total of 2 components then it is called synergy, 2 + 2 = 5. It is also called value addition or synergy effect.
What are 2 types of groups in organization
- Formal groups (organization develop itself)
2. Informal group (people of similar interest and mindset get together)
What are group roles
- Task-oriented role
- Relation-oriented role
- Individual role
What is task oriented role
Some people are information seeker/giver. They have task oriented role
What is relationship oriented role
This role people are encouragers (e.g. cricket captain buck ups his team)
What is individual role
This role is blocker
What are teams
Teams are groups with greater interdependence, shared purpose and destiny. Can be higher performing than groups, but may be not.
What are 4 types of teams
- Problem solving team
- Self managed team
- Virtual team
- Cross-functional team
