Cardio IV Flashcards
What is the indication for flecainide?
SVT
What is the indication for beta blockers as an antiarrhythmic?
Increases sympathetic activity
What is the indication for adenosine?
acute conversion of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia caused by
reentry involving accessory bypass pathways.
Why is there diaphoresis with an MI?
Increased BP d/t lower HR is done via sympathetic tone. Diaphoresis is a side effect of the increased symp tone
Why is there SOB with MI?
Heart is not pumping well
What is the normal duration of the QRS complex?
120 ms
What is the treatment for ventricular tachycardia?
Amiodarone or lidocaine
What is the cause of ventricular tachycardia?
Ectopic foci within the ventricle
What is the major downside of procainamide?
long time to infuse
Why should you not use propafenone in an ventricular tachycardia?
Decreases already compromised ventricular function
Why should you not use DHP in ventricular tachycardia?
Decreases contractility
Ca is for supraventricular causes
What is the MOA of isoproterenol?
Beta 1/2 agonist
What is the MOA of dobutamine?
Activates Beta 1, but not act on HR much
What drug can cause interstitial pneumonitis?
Amiodarone
What channel is inhibited to cause a prolonged QRS?
Na
