If a pregnant woman drinks alcohol it passes across the placenta into the developing baby. The developing lover of the baby can’t cope with it so it’s brain and body can be badly affected

  • cirrhosis of the liver can be developed which destroys liver tissue
  • The brain can become soft and pulpy, normal brain structures being lost so it can’t function properly
  • Alcohol is a carcinogen
