A

A

If you eat more food tan needed, excess is stored as fat. If you regularly eat too much you can become overweight and obese

A

Obesity can lead to type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease

Why does doing more exercise reduce risk of obesity?

A

Food you eat transfers energy to your muscles to do work from respiration. So if you exercise more, more respiration is carried out in the muscles so you use up more food

  • More muscle tissue increases metabolism decreasing risk of overweight (no diabetes)
  • Heart will be fitter and develop a better blood supply
  • Lowers blood cholesterol levels reducing risk of fatty deposits building up on coronary arteries reducing risk of heart disease
