Con Ed routinely monitors their Gas Transmission System for the potential need for repair work. Repair work on the Gas Transmission System is considered High Hazard repair work due to the high pressure gas which can range between 245-350 psig in Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. What are some procedures
A
- Con Ed will notify the borough dispatcher when repair work is to be performed. Upon this notification, the borough dispatcher will assign the nearest available Battalion and Engine OR Ladder company for an Administrative assignment
- Units shall respond in NON emergency mode
- The Con Ed Rep will be at the location to meet the responding units for familiarization and to review aspects of the planned repair work
- Upon completion of the familiarization the BC shall notify the DC and 1st alarm companies of the location and the relevant aspects of their planned repair work
- If deemed necessary the BC shall schedule units for additional familiarization visits
