What are the conditions to use the locks that have been issued to battalions to secure COMMERCIAL premises
1) Commercial property
2) Very minor fire or emergency incident had occurred
3) Egress gained through forced entry that was accomplished with no damage
4) There is no other damage to the entire perimeter of the premises
5) There is nothing abnormal or unusual about the premises or its contents
6) The original padlock hasp and/or staples are in place, or there is a folding gate, or a similar device that can be easily secured with a padlock
Large padlocks with hardened shackles have been issued to
Battalions to secure COMMERCIAL premises
When a BC decides to secure a premise with a Dept issued padlock they shall take the following steps
1) The BC shall issue a padlock and key to a company at the scene and direct the company to secure the premises
2) Battalion shall carry the locks and one key in the battalion car. The 2nd key will be in the battalion office. Keys and locks shall be properly tagged
3) when necessary new locks and tags shall be requisitioned form the R & T unit
Who is responsible to notify the dispatcher to place the premises on the “Secured Premises List”
The officer of the company who placed the lock on the commercial premise
Who makes the proper journal entries after placement of the lock
The officer of the company that placed the lock
Where is the key for the lock placed
In a secure place on the apparatus of the company that placed the lock
What is done when the dispatcher notifies the company to respond to the commercial premises to open it for the owner
Company responds as soon as it is practicable
The officer secures positive ID & has the receipt signed
Any doubt about identity the officer requests PD
Company returns padlock & key to battalion
