Dexamethasone
MOA: glucocorticoid
AE: psychosis, depression, hyperglycemia, insomnia
Cautions: in patients with diabetes
Dimenhydrinate
MOA: Anticholinergic
AE: Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth, paranoia, agitation, hypertension;
Caution: Watch for drowsiness, dizziness in older adults> Has abuse potential
Aprepitant
MOA: Substance P/ Neurokinin- 1 Antagonist
AE: Fatigue, asthenia, hiccups, dizziness
Caution: Can only be used along with other antiemetics- not on its own
Ondansetron
Serotonin Antagonist
Can cause diarrhea as well as constipation. Can cause prolonged QTc
May cause severe constipation. Consider ordering stool softeners as well
Olanzapine
MOA: Atypical antipsychotic
AE: Lethargy
Caution: Use caution in older adults as it may cause lethargy, dizziness. Has abuse potential
